Software Engineering Manager – Pro Quote Center, Nonstock (Remote)

Role overview Lead engineers and delivery for a cross-functional software team supporting a business quoting product. The role combines people management with technical direction, production support, and partnership with product and business stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, scalable software.

Responsibilities - Coach, mentor, and develop engineers; support performance reviews, career growth, and team effectiveness. - Align product, UX, engineering, and business partners on priorities and translate needs into technical plans. - Guide implementation of software and uphold quality, security, reliability, and change control practices. - Improve automation, testing, monitoring, dashboards, logging, and alerting; help teams detect and resolve issues proactively. - Support production applications, answer technical questions, and act as an escalation point for engineers. - Evaluate tools and technologies, work with vendors, and contribute to shared engineering practices.

Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge and experience. - Strong command of an object-oriented programming language; Java is preferred. - Experience with software engineering and modern development processes; around five or more years of relevant experience is preferred. - Familiarity with scripting, web application frameworks, relational databases and SQL, monitoring, troubleshooting, and log analysis. - Ability to lead and grow engineers, balance work across teams, manage stakeholder needs, and turn strategy into execution. - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Benefits and work setup - Remote role with occasional overnight travel, estimated at 5–20%. - The listed pay range for certain U.S. locations is $140,000–$240,000.
