Sr. Staff Engineer (Fullstack/Backend)

Role overview A customer-focused health and wellness platform is hiring a Sr. Staff Engineer to set architectural direction for customer-facing systems at organisational scale. The role blends strategic technical leadership with hands-on influence over engineering practices, mentorship, and execution against product and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities - Define and evolve the long-term architectural vision for customer-facing platforms, including system boundaries, scale strategy, and foundational capabilities. - Establish patterns, frameworks, and governance that drive quality, resilience, and operational excellence across multiple teams. - Partner with engineering and product leadership to align architecture with strategic goals and accelerate org-wide adoption of scalable practices. - Mentor senior technical leaders and champion initiatives that improve developer experience, engineering rigor, and talent density. - Lead through ambiguity by clarifying ownership, removing cross-team blockers, and accelerating delivery of strategic initiatives. - Embed customer and clinical needs into platform design, prioritising observability, reliability, and sustainability from the outset.

Requirements - 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of group-level technical leadership. - Deep expertise in Kotlin, Java, or Go and strong system design skills for scale and performance. - Experience introducing and scaling shared infrastructure, frameworks, or libraries across multiple teams. - Proficiency with CI/CD tooling (e.g. CircleCI, GitHub), cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), and observability platforms (e.g. Datadog). - Demonstrated ability to drive architectural clarity and strategic technical alignment across functions. - Proven success translating customer and clinical needs into reliable, maintainable, high-impact solutions.
