Forward Deployed Engineer

Role overview The Forward Deployed Engineer owns end-to-end solution design and implementation for an identity resolution (IDR) product, blending data analytics and data engineering. The role partners directly with customer data, marketing, and executive stakeholders at large enterprises to translate business use cases into identity rules, warehouse-native data models, and global identity configurations. Work spans pre-sales discovery, hands-on deployment, and post-launch debugging, frequently advising senior leadership at large companies on long-term data strategy.

Responsibilities - Partner with a solutions architect to translate customer use cases into IDR rule sets and supporting data models - Assess customer data landscape and maturity during pre-sales, evaluating fit and identifying workarounds for gaps relative to existing identity or MDM tooling - Investigate identity discrepancies end-to-end by writing SQL against customer warehouses and reviewing server logs - Explain warehouse-native identity resolution behavior, including incremental processing and outcome table usage, to both technical and non-technical audiences - Surface recurring product gaps (for example, lack of retroactive data removal, weak profile-change observability, or watermark-reset limitations) and advocate for fixes internally - Build internal tooling and a shared repository of skills using coding agents as a default workflow, with critical human review before anything ships

Requirements - 2-4 years in analytics engineering, solutions engineering, forward-deployed engineering, or implementation, ideally at a data infrastructure, CDP, or B2B SaaS company - Strong SQL fluency in Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery, with attention to query performance and warehouse cost - Systems thinking applied to identity graphs at scale, including architectural trade-offs and downstream consequences - Consultative communication skills for running discovery calls and explaining technical trade-offs to varied stakeholders - Systematic debugging mindset: forming hypotheses, testing them, and validating timestamps, model definitions, and primary keys before drawing conclusions - Hands-on experience directing coding agents (not just prompting them) and scrutinizing generated output before it reaches production

Nice to have - Experience with identity resolution, MDM, or CDP products such as Segment, Amperity, Reltio, or LiveRamp - Familiarity with graph data structures and entity resolution algorithms - Background in probabilistic matching or ML-based identity systems - Data engineering or analytics engineering background - Comfort with customer-facing presentations and on-site meetings
