Developer Productivity Engineer

Role overview

A senior engineering role focused on accelerating how a 50+ person engineering organization ships software. The position owns the build, test, and deploy pipeline for a high-velocity monorepo that pushes 75+ commits per day with continuous deployment, while also supporting a multi-cloud, multi-region backend that serves a global customer base.

Responsibilities

- Serve as the single threaded owner of the build, test, and deploy system, defining how each team plugs into the path to production - Improve monorepo productivity by detangling build, test, and deploy patterns so teams can move quickly without blocking each other, including evaluating tools such as Turbo - Drive testing excellence by improving top-down and team-level visibility into test coverage across an expanding matrix of integrations - Support and extend the multi-region, multi-cloud infrastructure to meet data residency requirements for international customers - Strengthen operational excellence by increasing the team's ability to catch issues pre-production and respond quickly when issues slip through - Spend meaningful onboarding time writing and shipping feature code to build empathy with the current developer workflow

Requirements

- Engineer who enjoys solving hard technical problems with measurable customer impact and is comfortable in a fast-paced, startup-style environment - Demonstrated track record improving developer productivity for a 50+ person development organization - Background in one of the following: working on a dedicated developer productivity team, becoming the go-to "build person" at a fast-growing startup, or personally delivering code that moved cross-team productivity metrics such as DORA metrics or coverage - Strong computer science and development fundamentals with the ability to dive into feature code, including complex backend code - Comfort driving framework-level improvements that span multiple teams - Hands-on experience with a JavaScript/TypeScript-heavy monorepo, plus working knowledge of Go and Python

Nice to have

- Experience scaling continuous deployment in environments with strict uptime and reliability expectations - Familiarity with multi-cloud architectures and data residency patterns
