Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior staff-level engineering position sits within a supply chain management technology organization, tasked with defining and delivering technical direction as production capacity scales from roughly 1.2 million to over 2.4 million weekly units following a recent software product consolidation. The role is an individual contributor that partners with multiple neighboring teams to clarify architectural ownership and accelerate decision-making across the production engineering tribe. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the position focuses on technical leadership rather than people management.
Responsibilities
- Own the most challenging technical decisions across architecture, design, implementation, deployment, and operational excellence within the production tribe - Partner with adjacent teams to maintain architectural integrity and clear service boundaries that support team autonomy - Allocate significant time to orchestrating AI-assisted code generation, including guiding coding agents, reviewing their output rigorously, and enforcing strict guardrails for reliable results - Navigate a roughly 70% greenfield and 30% legacy environment, resolving risks and constraints around dependencies, data quality, compliance, and architectural change - Mentor engineers through peer coaching, knowledge-sharing, and promotion of engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD, BDD, DDD, and design patterns
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years at a staff or principal level in a technical leadership capacity - Strong stakeholder management skills and a track record of applying software to physical-world problems - Full-stack proficiency in languages such as C#, Python, and Golang, plus modern frontend frameworks, combined with production experience using AI coding agents (for example Cursor, Copilot, or Claude Code), with depth in context engineering and workflow breakdown - Experience designing modular systems with synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns - Familiarity with data engineering fundamentals, including modeling, governance, quality assurance, and processing or storage systems - An agile mindset, a passion for cross-functional collaboration, and strong communication skills for working with developers, product managers, designers, and globally distributed teams
Nice to have
- Deeper data engineering expertise, including data modeling and governance
Benefits and work setup
- Competitive compensation package with employer-supported pension contributions - Mental wellbeing support through established digital platforms - Discounted fitness and wellness memberships - Flexible hybrid working model - Sabbatical leave opportunities in addition to standard time off
