Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Role overview Lead backend engineering for production software that helps people navigate healthcare benefits and find appropriate care. You’ll build and evolve AI-enabled products and distributed services, balancing rapid development with reliability, quality, and careful handling of real-world user needs.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and improve backend services and new product capabilities. - Develop engineering workflows and systems that support AI-assisted product development at scale. - Shape software architecture, including distributed services and event-driven components where appropriate. - Work with product and engineering colleagues to clarify problems, improve system design, and raise delivery quality. - Apply testing and observability practices to keep production systems reliable and understandable.

Requirements - At least five years of experience building and shipping scalable applications, ideally using Python. - Experience with backend frameworks or libraries such as FastAPI, Flask, asyncio, aiohttp, or SQLAlchemy, or comparable tools. - Knowledge of relational databases and experience contributing to product architecture and design. - Familiarity with microservices, event-driven systems, AWS, and Kubernetes-based environments. - Strong software design fundamentals, including loose coupling, interface-based design, and test-driven development. - Curiosity, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to learning and sharing knowledge.

Nice to have - Experience with data processing and transformation workflows. - Experience working with distributed teams. - Practical interest in AI-assisted engineering, including designing workflows and safeguards that reduce errors and unsupported outputs.
