Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and operate the services behind billing, usage calculations, rates, customer usage visibility, and cloud marketplace workflows. As a hands-on Staff engineer in a platform team, you’ll lead complex technical work across backend systems and customer-facing interfaces, with an initial focus of roughly 75% backend and 25% frontend. The role also covers the data stores, deployment configuration, and cloud infrastructure needed to run these services.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs for billing, usage, rates, and marketplace integrations. - Improve the accuracy and reliability of workflows through validation, reconciliation, error handling, and recovery. - Contribute to TypeScript and React applications as needed to deliver end-to-end features. - Replace recurring manual work with maintainable automation and clear operational processes. - Maintain Kubernetes workloads, scheduled jobs, cloud resources, infrastructure-as-code, and delivery pipelines. - Investigate production issues using logs, metrics, and traces, and work with neighboring teams to address underlying causes.
Requirements - Substantial experience designing, delivering, and operating production backend systems, including hands-on technical leadership. - Strong experience with Go and professional experience contributing to frontend applications with TypeScript and React or comparable tools. - Understanding of distributed systems, relational databases, schema changes, query performance, and safe production updates. - Practical experience deploying and troubleshooting containerized services in Kubernetes and managing cloud infrastructure through code. - Experience with CI/CD, controlled rollouts, and diagnosing production issues using observability data. - Record of delivering projects end to end and communicating reliably in remote, cross-time-zone teams.
Benefits and work setup This is a remote role open to candidates in the United States and Canada, with preference for locations in North American Eastern Time to support collaboration with European colleagues. The organization describes a global, remote-first culture and a 30-day annual leave policy, including three designated shutdown days, subject to local law.
