Staff Backend Engineer - Databases - Analytics | Sweden | Remote

Role overview A remote staff-level backend engineering position focused on building the first production services for an AI-native data intelligence system that gives AI agents governed access to enterprise context. The work spans ingestion, context indexing, retrieval APIs, and agent-facing integrations, evolving from internal prototypes into a production-grade multi-tenant SaaS. The role is open to candidates based in Sweden, Spain, the UK, Ireland, or Germany, and sits on a small team that operates with high autonomy and an open-source-rooted culture.

Responsibilities - Design, implement, test, and operate the first production services for context ingestion, indexing, retrieval orchestration, APIs, source configuration, and system administration - Help shape the multi-tenant SaaS foundation, including tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, and background jobs - Build APIs and service interfaces that let AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications retrieve context along with provenance, confidence signals, and warnings - Partner with product and infrastructure colleagues to balance fast experimentation with long-term reliability as the system moves from prototype to production - Instrument services for observability and take responsibility for operating what you build

Requirements - Significant professional experience building and operating production backend services, typically at staff or senior level - Strong programming skills in Go or a comparable backend language, plus solid experience with distributed systems and service-based architectures - Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS concerns such as isolation, quotas, audit logging, and background processing - Comfort working through ambiguity, making pragmatic architectural decisions, and turning prototypes into reliable production systems - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Nice to have - Experience with context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, vector or semantic search, or knowledge-graph systems - Background in observability, telemetry, or data infrastructure - Open-source contributions or active engagement with developer communities - Prior experience on small, high-autonomy teams or early-stage product builds
