Senior Software Engineer - Session Replay | USA | Remote

Role overview

Remote senior engineering role focused on building a cloud product that helps customers understand what users actually experienced when something goes wrong. The work sits at the intersection of frontend observability, backend data processing at scale, debugging workflows, privacy, and access control. As a senior engineer, you will operate as a technical leader shaping both the product and the underlying backend architecture, including a migration toward columnar and analytical storage for high-volume session data.

Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end technical direction for the Session Replay product across frontend, backend, and data systems - Drive backend architecture evolution, including designing systems around columnar and analytical data storage for large-scale session data - Define data models, ingestion pipelines, and query patterns for high-volume event streams - Lead design of investigation workflows that connect replay evidence with logs, metrics, traces, and other telemetry - Partner with adjacent product teams to build cohesive cross-product experiences - Engage directly with customers through calls and structured feedback to support adoption - Improve engineering standards, patterns, and operational practices while mentoring teammates

Requirements

- Significant senior-level engineering experience with strong systems design skills - Proficiency with Go for backend services and APIs - Experience building production frontends with TypeScript and React - Background designing data-intensive systems covering ingestion, storage, and querying at scale - Familiarity with columnar or analytical data stores, object storage (S3, GCS, Azure Blob), and MySQL - Comfort operating as a technical leader whose decisions span multiple teams and products

Nice to have

- Experience with privacy, access control, or consent management for user-level behavioral data - Background in observability tooling, debugging workflows, or frontend performance instrumentation
