Remote job
Staff Site Reliability Engineer - AUS
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Help build and operate secure, reliable cloud infrastructure for a software product that provides access to customer infrastructure. The work combines core product engineering with site reliability: scaling services globally, improving observability, reducing operational toil, and responding to incidents. Most coding is in Go, and the role includes participation in a round-the-clock on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
- Rework core systems to support global scale and reduce routing latency for distributed teams. - Adapt product components to meet the needs of a cloud-hosted service. - Build and maintain monitoring and observability systems that surface genuine production issues with fewer false alarms. - Automate repetitive operational work and handle patching, scaling, backups, restores, and disaster recovery. - Investigate customer-impacting outages and incidents, and take part in the on-call rotation. - Contribute to operational tooling, product code, and sound security and reliability practices.
Requirements
- At least eight years of progressive experience in software engineering, SRE, or DevOps. - Strong Linux, networking, container, and troubleshooting skills. - Solid Go skills and experience developing for Kubernetes in production. - Technical leadership experience and the ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively. - Experience with scripting, automation, product code changes, or operational tools that incorporate AI agents. - Familiarity with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Loki, including operating and supporting them. - Careful security judgment and an interest in correctness and system invariants.
Nice to have
- AWS experience; experience with GCP is also suitable. - Experience using formal or property-based methods to reason about system behavior.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-first, globally distributed work, with an in-person onboarding week in the San Francisco Bay Area. - On-call coverage for continuous service availability. - Health coverage, an annual expense budget, rest and recovery policies, retirement savings plans, and professional development support.
