Job details
About this role
Role overview Build, operate, and scale compute and storage infrastructure for cloud hosting. The work spans OpenStack, distributed storage, Linux systems, data-centre hardware, and networking, with engineers expected to troubleshoot across the platform and improve its reliability and performance. Experience building an OpenStack environment from the ground up is useful but not essential.
Responsibilities - Implement, operate, and troubleshoot OpenStack infrastructure and related compute and storage services. - Maintain distributed storage, including capacity, replication, recovery, latency, and performance considerations. - Diagnose issues across Linux hosts, hardware, networks, hypervisors, databases, message queues, containers, and guest workloads. - Use automation and infrastructure tools to operate and evolve cloud platforms at scale. - Apply security-minded design and operational practices, and work with teammates to solve complex infrastructure problems.
Requirements - Experience operating open-source infrastructure systems; extensive experience is expected for senior-level scope. - Practical OpenStack implementation, operations, or troubleshooting experience. - Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, plus experience with Ceph or a comparable distributed storage system. - Knowledge of enterprise data-centre hardware and how component design, power, cooling, and rack layout affect reliability and performance. - Strong networking fundamentals and experience with virtualisation or cloud infrastructure at scale. - Ability to troubleshoot across multiple infrastructure layers and apply security considerations to architecture, automation, access, and operations.
Nice to have - Experience with tools such as Ubuntu, Ansible, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, LXC, Docker, OVN, OVS, BGP, Juniper, or LACP, or comparable technologies. - Experience building OpenStack infrastructure from the ground up. - Practical skills in networking areas such as IPv4, IPv6, routing, and physical or virtual cloud networks.
