Role overview A remote engineering role focused on building and shipping AI-driven features for procurement workflows. The position combines hands-on development of RAG pipelines and agentic workflows with platform-level work on evaluation, observability, and engineering standards. The engineer will partner with architecture leaders to evolve a monolithic platform toward modular, service-oriented capabilities while delivering production-grade AI tooling.
Responsibilities - Architect and implement reusable AI integration patterns, including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, MCP tools, structured extraction, summarization, and compliance intelligence. - Design and ship production-grade AI features embedded in mission-critical procurement workflows and supporting internal tooling. - Define evaluation frameworks, observability, and guardrails covering model quality, cost governance, security, and compliance. - Partner with architecture leadership to evolve legacy monolithic systems toward modular, service-oriented capabilities. - Establish engineering standards for AI systems, including testing strategies, prompt and version management, model lifecycle practices, and performance monitoring. - Collaborate with Product, UX, and domain subject-matter experts to ensure AI solutions address real user problems, and contribute to architectural reviews and technical design sessions.
Requirements - Three to five years of software engineering experience with exposure to AI or LLM-based solutions. - Hands-on experience with LLM integrations such as RAG, prompt engineering, summarization, or structured data extraction. - Proficiency in Python, Node.js, or similar languages, with experience building APIs and scalable services. - Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Familiarity with vector databases or retrieval systems, for example Pinecone or FAISS. - Solid understanding of modular or service-oriented architectures, plus experience with monitoring, logging, and system performance in production environments, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Nice to have - Comfort working with internal AI tools and platforms to streamline personal workflow. - Strong technical writing skills for maintainable documentation and knowledge sharing.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote position based in Latin America. - Independent contractor engagement through a payroll platform. - Compensation range of USD $3,500 to $4,500 per month, depending on seniority and skillset.
