Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead the design and delivery of API and integration products that let developers and partners connect with a digital product ecosystem. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you will make architectural decisions, contribute directly to implementation and operations, and align work across engineering, product, data, infrastructure, and business teams.
Responsibilities - Shape technical roadmaps and lead API and integration initiatives from early design through launch and ongoing operation. - Define reusable practices for API contracts, access control, versioning, rate limits, error handling, webhooks, documentation, and developer usability. - Design systems that connect internal services and external platforms, managing dependencies and tradeoffs across security, performance, reliability, cost, and future change. - Establish service health measures and operational practices, including observability, incident response, support, and reliability targets. - Translate partner and product needs into technical priorities, evaluate implementation options, and communicate recommendations to varied audiences. - Mentor engineers and improve shared practices through design reviews, pairing, code reviews, and reusable technical guidance.
Requirements - At least 8 years of professional software development, including hands-on technical leadership on complex production systems. - Demonstrated experience building and operating integrations or developer-facing APIs as products, with strong knowledge of API design and lifecycle management. - Experience evolving distributed, high-scale systems with sound security, reliability, observability, and performance. - Track record leading substantial work across teams or services, from problem definition through production operation. - Experience setting production-readiness standards and reliability practices, and aligning technical and nontechnical stakeholders. - Ability to mentor engineers, resolve cross-team ambiguity, and connect architecture choices to customer and business outcomes.
Nice to have - Work with third-party developers, strategic partners, API consumers, or platform ecosystems. - Familiarity with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, Redis, or PostgreSQL.
