About this role
Role overview Own and extend an AI system that helps cat owners make sense of their pets’ health records and decide when to seek veterinary advice. The work spans conversational agents, specialized models, and early detection of health changes from records and images, with careful evaluation before features reach owners.
Responsibilities - Improve how the existing agent uses each cat’s history and research material to explain model findings in clear language. - Explore long-term records for changes in measures such as weight, water intake, and litter habits that may warrant veterinary attention. - Build or fine-tune models for image-based questions about signs such as pain, mood, or stool, and compare their performance with a general-purpose baseline. - Work with veterinarians to label cases, review model outputs, define limits, and help establish a clinical review process. - Decide what data to collect and how to label it, using owner data for development only with opt-in consent; use public datasets and veterinarian-labeled cases where appropriate. - Establish repeatable evaluation and labeling practices, and deliver an initial model or a measured go/no-go decision.
Requirements - Strong Python skills and experience training or fine-tuning models on real-world data and deploying them in production. - Sound statistical judgment and the ability to evaluate model performance against a baseline. - Experience with LLM agents and at least one of time-series analysis, health data, or computer vision. - Experience working with small or noisy labeled datasets, using approaches such as transfer learning or active learning. - Fluent English and careful handling of sensitive health data.
Nice to have - Veterinary or human health experience, or experience working with clinicians. - Mandarin proficiency, published research, or experience running a validation study. - Personal experience caring for a cat or dog.
