Founding Product Designer

Role overview

Establish product design for a platform of predictive and generative AI tools, owning the experience from early discovery through implementation. You’ll create the design principles and shared system that make interfaces, agent behaviors, and AI interactions consistent and understandable. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and AI teams, you’ll turn complex technical workflows into usable products while helping shape product direction.

Responsibilities

- Set product design principles, processes, and standards, and bring design into discovery and early product decisions. - Research user needs through interviews, usage insights, and usability testing, especially with technical audiences. - Build and maintain an AI-focused design system covering reusable components, interaction patterns, prompts and responses, agent behaviors, and guidance. - Design end-to-end platform and agent experiences, including how users direct agents, follow progress, review results, provide input, and retain control. - Prototype and test concepts, then deliver detailed designs in partnership with engineers and AI teams. - Guide implementation to preserve usability, accessibility, and design quality as products and user needs evolve.

Requirements

- At least 7 years designing technical products, including complex enterprise software, platforms, web applications, or developer tools. - 1–2 or more years designing human-guided agent experiences across interfaces such as command-line tools, APIs, and graphical products. - Practical understanding of AI and machine-learning workflows and the challenges of making them understandable and controllable. - Strong product discovery and research skills, including interviews and usability testing with technical users. - Ability to shape design strategy, work closely with Product and Engineering, and make progress through ambiguous problems. - A portfolio showing interaction design, systems thinking, visual execution, and measurable product impact.

Nice to have

- Use of AI tools for design exploration, prototyping, content, or code-assisted workflows. - Experience designing connected code-based and graphical product experiences, including developer tools and documentation. - Experience mentoring designers or improving design practices.
