Role overview
Develop and maintain Java-based microservices for mission-focused geospatial analysis, data transformation, and visualization systems. The work combines backend engineering, technical design, database integration, and collaboration with product and engineering stakeholders to deliver scalable services for high-consequence operational applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain performant Java microservices with a focus on geospatial capabilities. - Integrate services with relational and NoSQL databases and support cloud-based development and deployment. - Translate requirements into robust software designs that align with system architecture and mission objectives. - Partner with product managers and technical stakeholders during planning, implementation, and delivery. - Lead the technical design of geospatial features and contribute to architectural decisions. - Review code and mentor less-experienced engineers while promoting maintainable, high-quality development practices.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. - Twenty years of experience supporting programs or contracts of comparable scope, type, and complexity. - Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline; four additional years of experience may substitute for the degree. - Strong command of Java and commonly used frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate. - Experience developing and deploying software in cloud environments.
Nice to have
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes, along with knowledge of geographic information systems and geospatial data concepts.

The estimated annual salary range is $225,000–$275,000 USD, with actual compensation influenced by location, education, skills, experience, contract affordability, and organizational needs.
