Field Application Engineer - Remote

Role overview

A remote field application engineer role focused on supporting customers of professional 3D printing equipment across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The position is heavily travel-based, combining on-site installation, training, demonstrations, and break-fix service to keep customer operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

- Travel to customer sites to unpack, install, commission, and calibrate 3D printing systems - Conduct structured on-site training sessions covering operation, software, and basic maintenance - Perform live product demonstrations to build customer confidence in the technology - Respond rapidly to downtime events, often on short notice, and aim for single-visit resolutions - Manage a recurring schedule of preventative maintenance visits, meeting warranty service windows - Independently manage a complex travel schedule including flights, trains, hotels, and rental cars - Maintain meticulous records of installations, training, and repairs in a CRM

Requirements

- Based in Munich or within roughly a 45-minute drive (preferred for hub connectivity) - Willingness to travel 80%+ of the time - Strong electromechanical or hardware technical background, combined with the soft skills to teach others - Fluency in German and English at C1 level, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly in both - Valid driver's license

Nice to have

- Fluency in French - Passion for 3D printing and emerging fabrication technologies - Experience in rapidly-growing startup or scale-up environments
