Senior Software Engineer (CA - Remote)

Role overview

Build and improve cloud-native software through hands-on development, while contributing to architecture and design decisions. You’ll work with a small, collaborative product team, help deliver new features, and support the growth of junior engineers.

Responsibilities - Design, code, test, debug, and deploy applications in a cloud environment. - Enhance existing products, contribute new features, and review code changes. - Plan and prioritize work independently in a fast-moving Agile setting. - Partner with architects and stakeholders to shape designs and resolve technical challenges. - Apply sound engineering practices across the development lifecycle, including testing, source control, and CI/CD. - Mentor junior developers and participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including after-hours support when needed.

Requirements - At least 5 years of experience building cloud-native applications with Python; Azure is preferred, with AWS also suitable. - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Strong object-oriented programming knowledge and experience with relational databases, including schema design and SQL queries. - Ability to design systems or pipelines from the ground up and explain trade-offs involving scalability and performance. - Familiarity with design patterns, code reviews, and professional software engineering practices across the full development lifecycle. - Strong communication skills and ability to work across programming environments and tools.

Nice to have

Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, React, JavaScript or TypeScript, REST APIs, Docker, Linux, Windows, Git, or NPM.
