About this role

Role overview A Staff or Tech Lead Software Engineer role embedded in an open-source threat intelligence product team, serving as the technical anchor for a key external partner contributing to core development. The position blends hands-on coding with mentorship, code review, and architectural alignment, helping partner engineers deliver high-quality, well-integrated contributions. It is a fully remote role based on the East Coast of the United States, reporting to the Director of Software Engineering.

Responsibilities - Own and drive the technical relationship with a key external partner actively contributing to the open-source core project. - Join early in technical refinement and design discussions for partner-driven features and contributions. - Guide and coach partner developers on architecture, coding standards, and best practices, while reviewing external contributions for quality, consistency, and maintainability before they land in core. - Act as the bridge between the partner's engineering team and the internal roadmap, architecture, and standards, surfacing risks, blockers, and status to the Director of Engineering. - Contribute directly to key parts of the codebase, especially where partner and core work intersect. - Facilitate refinement sessions, design reviews, and pair programming, and collaborate with engineering managers and product on sizing, scope, and roadmap planning.

Requirements - 8+ years in software engineering with a track record of reliable, iterative delivery. - Strong experience with TypeScript and hands-on work with Node.js, React, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis. - Strong hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or LLM-based agents to accelerate development. - Comfort working in a full-remote, async-first environment across multiple time zones. - Strong communication and diplomacy skills, with the ability to influence an external partner's engineering practices without formal authority. - Autonomy and ownership, with proactive reporting and alerting habits.

Nice to have - Cybersecurity or Cyber Threat Intelligence experience. - Prior experience working with external stakeholders, partners, or vendors. - Open-source experience contributing to, maintaining, or leading work on open-source projects.

Benefits and work setup - Competitive pay plus equity participation. - Remote-first, flexible work culture with twice-a-year regional and global offsites. - Choice of personal equipment and gear to support the working setup.
