Senior PHP Engineer - Moldova

Role overview A senior backend engineering position focused on building and maintaining the PHP services that power a client platform. The work blends feature development, API design, and integration troubleshooting within an agile, collaborative team. Engineers are expected to leverage modern tooling, including AI assistants, as part of daily workflows.

Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain backend features in PHP, contributing to a long-lived client platform. - Work within an in-house PHP framework built on top of modern Symfony libraries. - Build and maintain APIs and customer integrations, ensuring reliability for downstream consumers. - Diagnose and resolve complex technical and integration issues across services. - Operate within the backend stack that includes AWS infrastructure and MySQL databases. - Use AI-assisted development tools as a regular part of the engineering workflow.

Requirements - Several years of professional experience in PHP backend development. - Hands-on experience with Symfony or libraries from the modern Symfony ecosystem. - Solid working knowledge of MySQL, including query design and performance considerations. - Practical experience deploying and operating services on AWS. - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills across backend systems. - Good communication skills and openness to learning new technologies. - Comfort incorporating AI tools into everyday software development.

Nice to have - Experience with Rust or Python, or a strong interest in learning either as they are used elsewhere on the project.
