Role overview Join an infrastructure and network development team focused on building and maintaining internal tooling for backend platforms and frontend management interfaces. The work centers on a large-scale backup system that processes up to 2 petabytes of data per day across millions of web hosts, with a codebase of roughly 750,000 lines and many modular components. The role blends systems-level engineering with modern DevOps practices in a Linux-heavy environment.
Responsibilities - Collaborate with product owners and architects to define technical solutions aligned with the product vision. - Partner with fellow engineers to design and develop new products and extend existing ones. - Participate across the full lifecycle of development, maintenance, and housekeeping for the enhanced backup platform. - Contribute to orchestrators for datacenter and network infrastructure using container and CI/CD tooling. - Engage with open-source technologies and contribute to community projects where appropriate. - Communicate clearly in written and verbal English across distributed teams.
Requirements - Excellent proficiency in C++ (C++17 and newer), including STL, multithreading, and network programming over TCP/UDP. - Strong knowledge of CMake (3.3+) for project building and management. - Solid experience with Debian-based Linux, including file system hierarchy, permissions, processes, signals, forking, and IPC. - Working knowledge of REST APIs, Google Test Framework, and Python 3.12 for integration testing and utilities. - Familiarity with Docker and docker-compose for local development. - Basic understanding of OpenSSL 3.0 for secure communication.
Nice to have - Familiarity with general and block-based backup theory. - Experience with Boost libraries, Protobuf for serialized data, and Bash scripting for deployment automation.
