Head of Developer Relations

Role overview

This role leads developer relations for an AI-powered software development platform, shaping the strategy that determines how engineers discover, evaluate, and adopt the product. It sits at the intersection of engineering, product, marketing, and the external developer community, combining hands-on technical work with content creation, program building, and public representation.

Responsibilities

- Define and lead developer relations strategy across technical content, community programs, events, partnerships, and social channels - Serve as a visible external voice through professional networks, conferences, podcasts, livestreams, and developer communities - Create practical technical resources such as tutorials, demos, sample applications, reference implementations, documentation, and case studies - Demonstrate how AI coding agents improve real engineering workflows and shorten the path to value - Cultivate a self-sustaining developer community where members learn from one another, share work, and advocate for the platform - Build relationships with influential developers, open-source maintainers, AI companies, research groups, and technology partners - Design and run workshops, meetups, hackathons, launch programs, and conference activations - Establish a feedback loop between developers and internal product and engineering teams - Track shifts in AI, developer tooling, and software engineering practice to keep the platform differentiated - Define and report metrics covering adoption, engagement, content performance, community health, and product feedback

Requirements

- Significant experience in developer relations, developer education, product management, software engineering, or technical leadership - Deep technical credibility and the ability to build, demo, and explain modern development workflows - Established reputation in the developer community with a track record of producing trusted, widely shared content - Experience building and scaling developer communities, programs, or ecosystems - Familiarity with AI-assisted development, coding agents, developer tools, open source, and emerging engineering practices - Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, compelling narratives - Strong written, verbal, on-camera, and public-speaking skills - Product instincts and experience partnering closely with engineering and product teams - Metrics-driven approach to developer adoption and community investment - High agency and the ability to build a function in a fast-moving environment with limited structure - Genuine passion for developer education and helping technical users succeed
