Role overview A senior engineering role focused on shaping the software architecture that powers autonomous robotic platforms operating in complex, real-world environments. The position centers on ROS2-based development across perception, navigation, and mission execution, partnering closely with multidisciplinary hardware and AI teams to ship production-ready systems for field deployment.
Responsibilities - Lead the design and implementation of ROS2-based robotics software and overall system architecture for autonomous platforms - Build localization, mapping, navigation, mission planning, and behavior management capabilities - Integrate a wide sensor stack including LiDAR, RGB and thermal cameras, radar, GPS, IMUs, and environmental sensors - Develop communication pathways between robots, edge AI devices, and cloud infrastructure - Construct simulation environments using tools such as Gazebo, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, and Digital Twin frameworks, and tune software for real-time, reliable performance - Drive integration testing and field validation, mentor other engineers, and establish engineering best practices across the team
Requirements - PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related discipline - At least five years of post-PhD industry experience developing autonomous robotic systems - Expert-level proficiency with ROS2 along with strong C++ and Python programming skills - Solid understanding of distributed robotic systems, middleware, and Linux-based development workflows - Hands-on experience integrating robotic sensors and embedded computing platforms - Strong software architecture, debugging, and systems engineering skills
Nice to have - Familiarity with Navigation2, MoveIt, SLAM, DDS middleware, Gazebo, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Docker, Jetson platforms, CUDA, edge AI, multi-robot coordination, and autonomous outdoor robotics - Publications at venues such as ICRA, IROS, RSS, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICML, or AAAI; prior experience leading robotics software teams; startup or advanced R&D backgrounds; open-source robotics contributions; or relevant patents
