Role overview A senior engineering role focused on leading the architecture, development, and field deployment of autonomous robotic platforms that operate in complex real-world environments. The position sits at the intersection of robotics, computer vision, edge AI, and intelligent decision-making, with applications spanning public safety, industrial automation, mining, maritime operations, critical infrastructure, and defense. The work combines deep research with hands-on prototyping and production-grade engineering.
Responsibilities - Lead the design and architecture of autonomous robotic systems from concept through deployment - Develop perception, localization, mapping, navigation, and motion planning algorithms - Build robotics software using ROS2, C++, and Python, integrating LiDAR, cameras, radar, GPS, IMUs, and thermal sensors - Implement SLAM, sensor fusion, obstacle avoidance, and autonomous navigation capabilities - Build and test robotic prototypes in real-world environments, optimizing performance, reliability, safety, and scalability - Mentor engineers and collaborate across AI, software, electrical, and mechanical teams while evaluating emerging robotics technologies
Requirements - PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Control Systems, or a closely related field - 5+ years of professional robotics engineering experience following completion of the PhD - Expert knowledge of ROS2 and strong programming skills in C++ and Python - Proven experience developing autonomous robotic systems - Strong understanding of robotics algorithms, kinematics, dynamics, controls, and system integration - Experience with autonomous systems, embedded platforms, and sensor integration
Nice to have - Publications at leading conferences such as ICRA, IROS, RSS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, or NeurIPS - Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams - Startup or high-growth technology company background - Patents or significant open-source robotics contributions - Hands-on experience deploying autonomous robots in operational environments, with familiarity in reinforcement learning, NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, digital twins, or domain areas like industrial robotics, autonomous vehicles, drone autonomy, maritime robotics, and field robotics
