Remote job
Linux Security Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A remote engineering role focused on building an eBPF-based security agent that monitors and protects Linux operating systems at the kernel level. The position sits at the intersection of low-level systems programming, runtime protection, and security research for embedded and connected devices. The work involves designing detection logic, contributing to open-source tooling, and shaping the architecture of a fleet-scale security platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize an eBPF-based security monitoring agent for Linux systems. - Analyze kernel structures, system calls, and process behavior to detect and mitigate security threats. - Participate in architecture discussions to ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of the security solutions. - Engage with open-source communities and contribute improvements back upstream. - Research and prototype new detection methodologies, integrating them into product design. - Maintain code quality through reviews, testing, and close collaboration with the engineering team.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Linux internals, including tasks, credentials, process hierarchies, syscalls, and namespaces. - Solid proficiency in Rust, with an emphasis on system programming or security-focused applications. - Practical experience with system-level security concepts and best practices. - Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes, including their internal mechanics. - Comfort with Git and collaborative development workflows.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with eBPF for kernel-level monitoring and tracing. - C programming expertise for low-level systems or kernel modules. - Background developing or contributing to security solutions or intrusion detection systems. - Familiarity with kernel tracing tools and Linux monitoring technologies. - Knowledge of IDS/IPS, anomaly detection, Seccomp, SELinux, or related security tooling. - Exposure to anomaly detection techniques or applied machine learning in a security context.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote position based in the EMEA region. - Compensation range of €70,000–€120,000. - Mission-driven team culture focused on meaningful, technically challenging problems. - High autonomy and the expectation of impact from day one. - Growing organization with expanding opportunities for career development.
