Cloud Software Development Co-op Intern - Summer/Fall 2021

Role overview

A professional services firm is recruiting a co-op intern for its cloud computing and networking practice, helping enterprise clients modernize through cloud-native software development. Interns contribute to design, coding, testing, and enablement of cloud services across multiple client projects while building consulting and technical skills. The role suits upper-year undergraduates or graduate students who want hands-on exposure to agile delivery and modern application architectures.

Responsibilities

- Assist with designing, coding, and testing software applications in collaboration with architects and product owners. - Help decompose features into smaller deliverable components and support estimation and sprint planning. - Research design approaches and contribute to proofs of concept that shape cloud-native solutions. - Stand up development environments and enable cloud services such as compute, storage, and messaging. - Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting throughout the delivery lifecycle. - Analyze data responsibly, prepare clear written and verbal communications, and stay current with cloud and software trends.

Requirements

- Active enrollment in a bachelor's (or higher) program in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a closely related technical discipline. - Cumulative and major GPA of 3.3 or higher. - Working familiarity with scripting and web development tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python, plus at least one modern framework like React, Angular, or React Native. - Exposure to object-oriented languages such as Java or C# and to relational or NoSQL databases. - Foundational understanding of the software development lifecycle, agile practices, cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to have

- Industry certification from a major cloud or service management provider such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - Coursework or projects involving microservice design patterns, distributed data processing, or DevOps tooling.
