Senior ASIC Design Verification Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior individual contributor role owning end-to-end digital SoC verification for advanced automotive communication semiconductors and networking systems. The engineer partners with architects, RTL designers, and software teams to plan and execute verification for chips that target software-defined vehicles, robotics, and other connected intelligent machines. The position is remote within Canada, with future hybrid flexibility once a Greater Toronto/Markham office opens.
Responsibilities
- Own all aspects of digital SoC verification from specification through coverage closure and gate-level simulation. - Collaborate with system architects, RTL designers, and embedded software engineers to align verification strategy. - Build and maintain reusable, modular testbenches using industry-standard methodologies. - Develop and execute test plans, regressions, and coverage analyses for complex networking and communication designs. - Debug simulation failures, drive root-cause analysis, and work with designers to resolve issues. - Contribute to automation of testbench creation, regression infrastructure, and EDA tool flows. - Extend verification assets for pre- and post-silicon reuse across teams and product generations.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. - Ten or more years of ASIC verification experience with strong command of verification fundamentals and industry-standard methodologies. - Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, plus scripting in Python or TCL and programming in C or C++. - Experience taking designs through the full verification flow, including coverage analysis and gate-level simulation. - Demonstrated ability to debug simulation failures to root cause. - Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently and within distributed, multidisciplinary teams. - Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Nice to have
- Networking background spanning Ethernet MAC/PHY, switching, TCP/IP, security, PCIe, or similar industry-standard protocols. - Familiarity with video standards, processing pipelines, or digital signal processing filters. - Experience integrating third-party IP such as SerDes, controllers, or processors. - Exposure to SystemC or DPI-based verification techniques.
Benefits and work setup
- Pre-IPO stock options and competitive base salary. - Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees. - Flexible hours and remote work within Canada, with hybrid expectations once the Toronto/Markham office opens. - Opportunity to work alongside a globally distributed engineering team on cutting-edge networking silicon.
