Remote job
Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
Job details
About this role
Role overview Keep public-facing websites and enterprise APIs available, responsive, and protected from abusive traffic. This role combines site reliability and infrastructure security: you will monitor production systems, respond to incidents, automate operational work, and tune defenses against threats such as scraping, malicious bots, and credential abuse. You will work with engineering, security, product, marketing, and legal or compliance partners to protect service quality and data integrity.
Responsibilities - Track API availability, latency, and errors; define service objectives and alerts, lead incident resolution, and follow up on lessons from blameless reviews. - Automate recurring operations and remediation, and plan capacity and performance across CDN, application, and data layers. - Detect and mitigate scraping, bot activity, credential stuffing, fake account creation, and API key abuse using CDN, WAF, bot management, and rate limits. - Analyze traffic logs and emerging abuse patterns, then work with detection colleagues to turn findings into edge and application controls. - Manage infrastructure as code, access controls, network segmentation, TLS, secrets, configuration drift, and centralized logging across cloud environments. - Integrate dependency, container, and configuration checks into CI/CD and provide automated control evidence for audits and client security reviews. - Coordinate policy and product changes with partner teams, including explaining how traffic quality affects analytics and conversion reporting.
Requirements - Degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - At least 3 years of experience with security threats and mitigations, especially bots, scraping, and application-layer attacks. - Hands-on experience with CDN traffic controls, WAF, and bot management. - Experience using Elastic, OpenSearch, or comparable tools for log analysis. - Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and TLS, plus Linux administration and scripting in Python, Bash, or similar. - Experience operating production systems in a public cloud environment.
Nice to have Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code experience; CI/CD security tooling; containers and orchestration; observability tools; protection of high-traffic commercial APIs; SLOs, error budgets, incident management, or SOC 2/ISO 27001 environments.
Benefits and work setup Flexible paid time off, 401(k) match, and medical, dental, and vision coverage. The listed salary range is $150,000–$165,000.
