Senior Release Engineer

Role overview A senior-level opportunity is available for a release engineer to design and operate the CI/CD platform that powers production deployments for a financial services engineering organization. The role centers on bi-weekly releases, automation at scale, and round-the-clock support for cloud-native services running primarily on AWS and Kubernetes. The position is remote within the country and includes 24/7 on-call coverage for release infrastructure.

Responsibilities - Design, maintain, and scale CI/CD pipelines that deliver reliable, repeatable deployments across multiple environments. - Own release automation for microservices running on AWS and Kubernetes (EKS), including Java, Node.js, and AWS Lambda workloads. - Coordinate bi-weekly production releases and ad-hoc patch deployments, partnering closely with software engineering and platform teams. - Develop Python and Bash tooling that improves release reliability and developer productivity. - Manage and optimize Jenkins pipelines, container build processes, and deployment workflows. - Track release metrics and drive continuous improvements in deployment performance and reliability.

Requirements - 8+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or release engineering, including 5+ years building enterprise CI/CD pipelines. - Strong hands-on experience with Jenkins and pipeline-as-code workflows. - Production experience with Kubernetes (AWS EKS preferred) and containerized microservices. - Proven scripting skills in Python and Bash on Linux systems. - Experience supporting Java (Maven/Gradle) and Node.js (npm/yarn) build ecosystems. - Comfortable working in Agile environments and collaborating across distributed teams in multiple time zones.

Nice to have - Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and broader AWS services beyond Lambda. - GitHub Actions, Docker tooling, Artifactory/Nexus, and observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or Splunk. - Release governance, change management, and datacenter-to-cloud migration experience. - AI-assisted development tools used to automate troubleshooting and engineering tasks.
