AI Engineer

Role overview Build tailored generative AI solutions for client needs, from early feasibility assessments and proofs of concept through production deployment. This remote contract role combines hands-on engineering with client consultation, cross-team integration, and reusable tooling.

Responsibilities - Assess AI use cases, recommend technical approaches, and develop proof-of-concept applications. - Design and implement generative AI systems, including assistants, chatbots, and retrieval-augmented generation workflows. - Improve models and applications for production scale and performance, and integrate them with existing systems. - Explain implementations through technical documentation, presentations, and client discussions. - Review code, guide junior colleagues, and contribute reusable components and internal tools. - Track developments in AI and evaluate their relevance to client projects.

Requirements - Extensive hands-on experience with generative AI and large language models. - Demonstrated success building RAG systems and AI assistants or chatbots. - Strong grasp of AI evaluation methods, metrics, and advanced prompt engineering. - Proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript, plus Python experience for AI and machine learning work. - Solid understanding of web technologies and application architecture.

Nice to have - React experience, NLP research or application experience, or a background in consulting and client-facing technical work.
