Log Specialist - Remote MST or PST

Role overview

The position partners with sales organizations as a subject-matter authority on log management, helping large enterprises move from fragmented legacy logging tools to a unified, AI-powered observability platform. The specialist leads high-impact pre-sales engagements, technical proofs of concept, and architectural guidance across named accounts, blending deep technical depth with the ability to quantify economic value. The work is customer-facing and consultative, with a strong emphasis on displacing incumbent logging vendors.

Responsibilities

- Serve as the primary domain expert on log management, staying ahead of industry trends such as OpenTelemetry, telemetry pipelines (e.g., Cribl, BindPlane), and cloud-native logging services like CloudWatch and Stackdriver - Partner with account executives and pre-sales engineers to identify and execute displacement plays against legacy incumbents, and lead high-stakes proofs of concept that prove ROI through reduced ingest costs and faster troubleshooting - Build economic value models showing how log consolidation optimizes SaaS consumption, lowers operational overhead, and shortens mean time to resolution - Architect resilient, vendor-neutral log ingestion frameworks using tools such as Fluentd, Logstash, and OpenTelemetry Collectors, advising on routing, prioritization, and cost-effective archival - Proactively identify consumption bottlenecks in existing accounts and deliver best-practice workshops on log-based alerting, query-language proficiency, and dashboarding - Translate how modern observability platforms solve cardinality and storage challenges for engineering and executive audiences alike

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience - 5+ years in a specialist, pre-sales, professional services, or SRE role, with at least 3 years focused on log management or big data analytics - Advanced proficiency in query languages such as Splunk SPL, Kusto QL, SQL, or Lucene - Deep understanding of log ingestion pipelines and telemetry routing tools - Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, and serverless logging patterns - Strong knowledge of at least one major cloud logging ecosystem (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible

Nice to have

- Scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash for log transformation and data cleanup - Ability to translate technical detail into financial and business outcomes for stakeholders - Exposure to modern observability pipeline ecosystems and OpenTelemetry logging specifications
