Remote job
Staff Software Engineer - Market Data
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and operate a market data platform that turns blockchain activity and other relevant sources into timely, dependable feeds for institutional users. As a hands-on staff engineer, you will shape system design, make tradeoffs among correctness, latency, reliability, and cost, and guide other engineers as the platform grows.
Responsibilities - Design distributed services for ingesting, standardizing, processing, storing, and delivering real-time data. - Build streaming systems that handle ordering, duplicates, replay, missing events, recovery, and blockchain reorganizations where they affect customer data. - Develop client feeds and APIs with clear delivery guarantees, access controls, and support for schema changes and consumer delays. - Work with other teams on reference data models and historical data capture. - Set service objectives and data quality measures; monitor latency, freshness, completeness, and correctness. - Own deployment and production support, investigate incidents through root cause, participate in on-call, and mentor engineers on designs and implementation.
Requirements - Experience building and operating distributed backend or data services with demanding performance and reliability needs. - Practical knowledge of real-time streaming, concurrency, state management, backpressure, and recovery. - Strong backend engineering and computer science fundamentals; experience with Rust, Go, or similar languages is useful. - Care for data accuracy, including timestamps, numeric precision, corrections, and evolving schemas. - Ability to turn unclear requirements into production designs, lead technical decisions, and communicate clearly in writing across a distributed team. - Financial or market data experience, ideally at a financial institution.
Nice to have - Blockchain indexing experience, including EVM or Solana ecosystems. - Familiarity with reference data such as instrument or entity records, identifier mapping, or tokenized assets. - Experience at a company where data is the product.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first work with flexible hours, five weeks of paid time off plus local holidays, and a home office or coworking allowance. - Equity, private medical, dental and vision coverage, and paid parental leave. - Quarterly team or company gatherings and an annual allowance for coworking with colleagues.
