Job details
About this role
Role overview A full-time opportunity for a Protocol Risk Lead to shape the safety and resilience of a decentralized onchain asset management framework. The role centers on building risk infrastructure for trust-minimized DeFi strategies and partnering with a small, fast-moving team that is creating foundational building blocks for the next generation of onchain investing.
Responsibilities
- Design and roll out a comprehensive framework for assessing and continuously monitoring protocol-wide risk across smart contract, economic, and governance dimensions. - Perform strategy-level analysis, review, and risk scoring for the automated execution engines powering the platform. - Build and maintain a robust monitoring system that tracks the live state and behavior of onchain strategy machines. - Conduct deep onchain DeFi risk research, including exposure mapping to individual protocols and tokens. - Audit and review the risk management practices of authorized operators integrated with the system. - Develop stress testing models that simulate outlier market, liquidity, and oracle events to validate protocol resilience.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of DeFi protocols and their underlying mechanisms, including lending, AMMs, vaults, and yield strategies. - Demonstrated expertise in risk control and management within financial, crypto, or quantitative contexts. - Proficiency evaluating protocols across risk categories such as smart contract bugs, economic exploits, and governance attacks. - Advanced fluency with onchain investigation tools (e.g., Etherscan, Nansen, Phalcon) and data tooling such as Dune and subgraphs. - Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently, think flexibly, and contribute to early-stage technical direction. - Strong written communication and presentation ability for translating complex risk findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience curating, operating, or investing in DeFi strategies. - Background in Web3 security or broader cybersecurity disciplines. - Familiarity with Web3 libraries, smart contract interaction, and transaction simulation. - Exposure to data engineering or financial data pipeline construction.
Benefits and work setup
- Small, collegial team culture with flat hierarchies and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. - Significant autonomy and room to grow alongside the project as it scales. - Competitive compensation with bonus and participation opportunities. - Daily collaboration with deeply technical peers working on frontier crypto and DeFi problems.
