Assurance Engineer, Formal Verification
Job details
About this role
Role overview Turn operational, safety, and regulatory constraints into properties that can be checked against an AI agent’s behavior. You’ll build verification into the software delivery process and produce clear evidence that helps teams assess whether a system is ready to deploy.
Responsibilities - Translate client constraints, including limits on an agent’s actions and authority, into formal specifications. - Build and maintain automated verification tools that run in continuous integration as systems change. - Prepare evidence describing what was checked, how it was checked, and the results for compliance, safety, and audit reviews. - Identify designs that cannot be meaningfully verified early enough for teams to reconsider them. - Collaborate with interpretability and red-team specialists to make specifications reflect observed failure modes.
Requirements - Applied experience with formal methods such as model checking, theorem proving, or runtime verification in production systems. - Ability to turn regulatory or safety requirements into properties that software can check. - Strong software engineering fundamentals for building reliable tools that run in CI. - Clear judgment about what cannot be verified with the available time and access, and the ability to explain those limits.
Nice to have - Experience in a safety-critical or regulated field such as finance, healthcare, aerospace, or energy. - Experience working with auditors.
