Senior Software Engineer - UDS Registry Team (RD119)

Role overview Senior engineering role on a registry team that builds and operates a package management platform used to deploy software packages into mission environments, including cloud and on-premises targets. The position sits at the intersection of product development and hands-on engineering, contributing to open source tooling alongside commercial capabilities.

Responsibilities - Partner with internal teams and the open source community on feature requests, bug fixes, and roadmap discussions. - Disambiguate evolving requirements by clarifying user needs, system constraints, and edge cases early. - Integrate software with existing defense systems while upholding interoperability and security protocols. - Own architecture decisions, set technical direction, and maintain quality across the engineering team. - Participate in on-call rotation for production environments and ship reliable releases. - Author design specs, user documentation, and maintenance guides, and contribute to upstream open source projects such as CNCF, ASF, or OpenSSF.

Requirements - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including work on a software lifecycle or management tool. - Proficiency in Go; familiarity with additional modern languages is welcome. - Solid grasp of system design, APIs, databases, and cloud architecture (AWS or Azure). - Working knowledge of OCI image and distribution specifications and supply chain security practices such as SBOMs and security scanning. - Comfort with core Kubernetes concepts and cloud-native delivery patterns. - Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have - Active participation in CNCF, ASF, or OpenSSF communities. - Travel up to 5-15%.
