Role overview
Own the design, delivery, and operation of reliable backend services for a meeting-management product. This senior engineering position focuses on Python-based APIs, scalable architecture, performance, observability, and safe delivery practices, while working closely with frontend, mobile, product, design, and platform colleagues. It also includes technical leadership through mentoring, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
- Develop and operate robust APIs and services using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework. - Lead architectural improvements involving data models, service boundaries, messaging, and zero-downtime migrations. - Work with platform engineers on containerized infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and delivery safety. - Write and maintain unit and integration tests, diagnose production issues, and prevent regressions through profiling, tracing, documentation, and instrumentation. - Collaborate across product and engineering disciplines to shape practical solutions and well-designed APIs. - Mentor engineers through pairing, structured feedback, design reviews, talks, and documentation.
Requirements
- Expert-level Python experience with Django and Django REST Framework. - Strong knowledge of REST API design and versioning. - Advanced SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including indexing, performance tuning, partitioning, and schema evolution. - Experience building resilient asynchronous systems with Celery and message brokers such as RabbitMQ. - Practical experience with Redis caching, including cache-aside patterns and eviction strategies. - Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, observability practices, service objectives, actionable alerting, and trace-to-log correlation.
