Senior Legal AI Platform Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview This senior engineering position sits at the intersection of legal operations, AI platform engineering, and enterprise systems architecture. The role focuses on translating legal, privacy, and commercial requirements into durable, governed production workflows across contract lifecycle management, CRM, intake, approval, and AI-enabled automation systems. It is a hands-on builder and architect role with end-to-end ownership, partnering closely with legal, IT, security, and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities - Own legal AI systems and components from requirements gathering and technical design through implementation, testing, release, operation, and documentation. - Architect and operate integrations across CLM, CRM, intake, workflow, knowledge, identity, and collaboration systems using APIs, webhooks, queues, and automation platforms. - Convert approved legal language, routing rules, risk thresholds, and conditional paths into maintainable technical controls while preserving required human-in-the-loop review and escalation. - Build governed AI plugins and single-task agents that consume approved source content without duplicating it across tools. - Develop evaluation and quality controls, including representative test sets, regression checks, schema validation, traceability, and evidence of behavioral changes. - Instrument the stack for reliability, auditability, cost tracking, and operational telemetry, and apply production controls for SSO/SCIM, secrets management, access, monitoring, incident handling, and rollback.
Requirements - Demonstrated experience designing and operating production integrations across enterprise systems using APIs, webhooks, queues, and automation platforms. - Strong background in translating ambiguous legal, privacy, or compliance requirements into shipped, maintainable technical outcomes. - Experience with AI governance, privacy, information governance, or legal knowledge systems, balancing enablement with control. - Excellent communication and change-management skills across engineers, lawyers, analysts, security partners, finance, and business-system owners. - Bias toward simple architecture, durable systems of record, measurable operation, and clean documentation over one-off fixes.
Nice to have - Hands-on experience with AWS serverless services, containerized workloads, GitHub Actions, MCP or similar tool-use integrations, and production AI evaluation methods.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first work arrangement. - Base salary range of $100,000–$150,000 USD, dependent on geographic location and experience. - Generous benefits package including health, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance, paid holidays and time off, a fertility treatment benefit, 401(k), equity, and eligibility for a corporate bonus program.
