Senior Front-end Engineer (React) (Location - Australia or New Zealand)

Role overview A senior frontend role owning complex UI surfaces for an AI-powered creative suite used by millions of creators. The position calls for a craft-focused engineer who treats performance, polish, and product feel as core deliverables, partnering with design while shaping solutions independently. This is a fully remote role for candidates already based in Australia, New Zealand, or compatible nearby time zones.

Responsibilities - Build and ship high-quality product UI in React and TypeScript, owning complex features end-to-end from architecture through production polish - Drive performance improvements across load time, runtime responsiveness, rendering, and perceived speed in a heavy creative and AI product - Partner closely with Product Design to translate Figma into buildable reality and improve the experience together - Propose better interactions, smarter component patterns, UX improvements, and technical approaches that make creators faster - Raise the quality bar for frontend code through clarity, maintainability, targeted testing, and reusable systems - Work with APIs, state, and real-time or media-heavy flows typical of an AI creative suite - Collaborate with backend and platform engineers to deliver reliable, scalable product experiences - Use AI tools to accelerate work without lowering engineering standards - Help shape frontend standards, reviews, and technical direction as a senior voice on the team

Requirements - Five or more years of professional frontend engineering experience shipping production web applications - Strong proficiency with React and TypeScript in real product codebases rather than prototypes alone - Deep understanding of frontend performance, including rendering, bundling, caching, profiling, and fixing real bottlenecks - Experience building complex, interactive product UI such as dashboards, editors, creative tools, or similarly rich applications - Comfort using AI tools to accelerate personal engineering workflow - Creative and proactive mindset, comfortable proposing ideas rather than only implementing briefs - Ability to thrive in ambiguity, clarify incomplete requirements, and keep shipping without waiting for perfect specifications - Good written and spoken English, with the resourcefulness to unblock independently and partner well with design and engineering

Nice to have - Experience with AI products, generative-media tools, creative editors, or other media-heavy web applications - Background in a startup, agency, or other high-pace product environment - Experience with design systems, component libraries, or improving frontend architecture at scale
