Operations Engineer – Data Operations

Role overview Keep enterprise data systems dependable by investigating data incidents, monitoring pipelines, and supporting business intelligence reports. You’ll work across database operations, ETL/ELT workflows, automation, and support teams to identify causes, restore reliable data, and prevent recurring issues.

Responsibilities - Use advanced SQL to trace missing, duplicate, or inconsistent records and determine root causes. - Monitor scheduled data pipelines and orchestration jobs; diagnose failures and performance bottlenecks. - Maintain BI dashboards, extracts, and reporting sources, resolving refresh problems and data discrepancies. - Make controlled data corrections while preserving data integrity and documenting procedures in runbooks. - Automate recurring investigations with Python or PowerShell, and use AI tools to assist with triage. - Manage support tickets and coordinate resolutions among business users, developers, and IT operations.

Requirements - Experience in data operations, database support, or enterprise pipeline troubleshooting. - Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, window functions, aggregations, and performance tuning; experience with MS SQL Server and tools such as SSMS or Azure Data Studio. - Understanding of dimensional warehousing, including fact and dimension tables and slowly changing dimensions, plus practical ETL/ELT debugging experience. - Experience supporting Tableau or a comparable BI tool, and scripting with Python or PowerShell. - Familiarity with IT service management, ticket handling, escalations, and orchestration tools such as Airflow or Azure Data Factory. - Fluent written and spoken English, careful analytical work, and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues.
