Job details
About this role
Role overview Join a high-ownership engineering role on a collections-focused squad at a Latin American corporate payments platform. The position covers end-to-end delivery across backend services and user-facing interfaces that support payments, collections, and reconciliation flows. Engineers are expected to identify gaps proactively, propose solutions, and ship without waiting for tickets.
Responsibilities - Design and build backend services using Java and Spring Boot, with attention to financial transaction flows including payments, collections, and reconciliation. - Develop and maintain frontend interfaces in React with TypeScript, owning features across both the data and presentation layers. - Model relational data in PostgreSQL and use Redis for caching and transactional needs. - Contribute to event-driven, distributed microservices using Kafka or comparable messaging infrastructure. - Build, secure, and document RESTful APIs for internal teams and external integrators. - Incorporate AI coding assistants (such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor) into the daily development workflow for writing, reviewing, and debugging code. - Partner with the product lead and engineering manager to translate product needs into technical decisions, pushing back when an approach is unclear or suboptimal.
Requirements - 3–5 years of professional backend experience with Java, including production work in Spring Boot. - Hands-on frontend experience shipping production interfaces with React and TypeScript. - Solid grasp of PostgreSQL and the fundamentals of distributed systems. - Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Git, and a major cloud platform, ideally AWS. - Daily, demonstrable use of AI-assisted development tools and a clear point of view on how they improve output. - Working proficiency in both English and Spanish, with the initiative to surface problems before they are raised.
Nice to have - Prior exposure to Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar message brokers. - Background in financial services, payments, or fintech, where domain ramp is a real factor. - Experience operating services in Kubernetes with production observability tooling. - A personal project, open-source contribution, or internal tool you can walk through in detail.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first by default, with periodic in-person team gatherings, onboarding, and customer-facing moments throughout the year. - Hybrid flexibility is encouraged, with no fixed in-office days and team-driven decisions about on-site collaboration. - Competitive compensation with stock options from day one. - Annual learning budget and accelerated development tracks. - English as the working language, with Spanish and Portuguese used in everyday communication.
