Role overview

This fully remote role, available within the United States, develops secure automation and AI-enabled workflow solutions for clinical, research, and business operations. The engineer partners with subject-matter experts to understand existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver reliable integrations, automations, and intelligent agents that can operate within a regulated healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, test, deploy, monitor, and improve automations for operational and clinical workflows. - Translate functional requirements into maintainable technical solutions and contribute to requirements and design discussions. - Integrate automation with electronic health records, clinical systems, data platforms, and enterprise applications while protecting sensitive health and personal information. - Troubleshoot production issues, improve performance and availability, and provide ongoing operational support. - Collaborate with data science and machine learning teams to incorporate analytics, AI agents, and other intelligent capabilities where appropriate. - Establish reusable components, technical documentation, standards, and knowledge-sharing practices for automation development.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree, with additional relevant experience potentially substituting for education requirements. - Three or more years of experience in process automation, software engineering, data science, or a related field. - Experience with automation and AI platforms, agent development concepts, scripting or programming, APIs, authentication, and secure secrets management. - Familiarity with cloud environments, preferably Azure, and software delivery or DevOps practices. - Experience working within enterprise governance processes such as change control, security review, and access management. - Ability to analyze complex problems, manage multiple initiatives independently, translate business needs into technical designs, and document solutions clearly.

Nice to have

- Graduate degree or experience with healthcare data, electronic health records, clinical databases, SQL, data modeling, or interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR. - Familiarity with healthcare workflows including revenue cycle, patient access, claims, authorization, scheduling, or clinical operations. - Experience with large-language-model frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation, business process mapping, or robotic process automation.
