Job details
About this role
Role overview Design, build, and support enterprise Kubernetes solutions, contributing to products and infrastructure while ensuring systems meet capacity and performance needs. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership: shaping architecture, resolving ambiguous requirements, and guiding services from early design through launch and operation.
Responsibilities - Lead and contribute to architecture discussions, implementation planning, and engineering decisions. - Research technical options and develop solutions for complex or incomplete requirements. - Build proof-of-concept work and minimum viable products to demonstrate proposed approaches. - Advise teams on system design, platform and framework development, capacity planning, and launch readiness. - Troubleshoot and improve applications, processes, and production systems. - Document projects and work with engineering, product, sales, and open-source collaborators to share knowledge and deliver solutions.
Requirements - At least 10 years of software and infrastructure engineering experience, including substantial experience designing, building, and operating production Kubernetes and Go services at scale. - Deep practical knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies, such as operators, custom controllers, CRDs, Helm, and Kubernetes API machinery. - Strong Go skills, along with experience using Pulumi or related engineering tools. - Expert-level Linux and cloud infrastructure experience, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - Ability to work from high-level requirements, solve problems independently, and collaborate effectively in a remote team. - Strong written and verbal communication, flexibility in a fast-moving environment, and availability for an on-call rotation. - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field.
Nice to have - Experience building Kubernetes operators, custom controllers, or a Kubernetes distribution.
Benefits and work setup - Remote work, with no travel required for most positions. - Medical, dental, and vision insurance; flexible paid time off; and employee stock options.
