[Job-31322] Senior PHP Developer, Brazil

Role overview A senior PHP developer role focused on evolving a legacy enterprise platform with modern API capabilities and stronger error logging. The work combines refactoring of existing code with phased modernization, supporting future integrations without disrupting current functionality.

Responsibilities - Design and implement feature and resource-oriented REST endpoints that integrate with existing legacy code - Author and generate OpenAPI or Swagger specifications - Implement secure authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and request validation for public-facing endpoints - Refactor critical legacy code issues that affect API implementation - Add structured logging and error tracking, including correlation and request IDs - Set up application performance and error monitoring with proactive alerting - Write unit and integration tests for new API endpoints - Coordinate with the client team to deliver changes without disruption to current functionality - Participate in peer review, agile ceremonies, and sprint demonstrations to client stakeholders

Requirements - Solid experience with legacy PHP applications, both procedural and light OOP, and comfort with refactoring rather than rewriting - Demonstrable REST API design experience including versioning strategy and documentation - Hands-on experience implementing API authentication, authorization, and rate limiting - Strong MySQL knowledge and the ability to work safely with existing schemas and queries - Practical experience instrumenting PHP applications with structured logging and error tracking - Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools in PHP environments - Testing mindset applied to legacy code - Working knowledge of CI/CD, git, gitFlow, and incremental delivery - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - Experience working within agile delivery methodologies as part of a wider team - Excellent communication and teamwork skills - Fluent in English
