Job details
About this role
Role overview This is an engineering management role at a freight technology company building an AI-native operating system for air and ocean logistics. The team practices AI-led engineering, where engineers write specifications and acceptance criteria while AI agents handle much of the implementation. The manager owns what ships, the architecture, the review process, and how quickly the team gets better at working in this new way.
Responsibilities - Lead a team of engineers, owning what they ship, the quality bar, and delivery pace - Stay close enough to the code to keep technical judgment sharp in a player-coach capacity - Help the team move from engineers directing agents one task at a time toward fleets of agents working inside designed guardrails - Run real one-to-one coaching, give direct feedback early, and grow people beyond your own skill level - Co-own roadmap and priorities with Product, pushing back on briefs where needed - Spend time directly with freight forwarder and airline customers, often bringing engineers along
Requirements - Several years of engineering management experience leading software teams - Track record of growing engineers, giving hard feedback early, and running meaningful one-to-ones - Systems-oriented thinker who fixes process rather than working harder inside a broken one - Strong product instincts; able to connect engineering work to customer and commercial outcomes - Native or near-native English, written and spoken - Comfort working remotely across European time zones and traveling for in-person meetings
Nice to have - Experience working with AI coding agents or AI-led development practices - Background in B2B SaaS, marketplaces, logistics, or other complex operational domains
Benefits and work setup - Permanent full-time role with a contract in Germany, a subsidiary contract in Portugal, or a partner-of-record arrangement elsewhere in approved countries - Equity eligibility - Company-provided AI tools including Claude Code, plus a choice of MacBook or Dell laptop delivered before day one - One-time €650 home-office budget and co-working access through a partner network - 24 paid vacation days on top of local public holidays, plus special leave - Two company-wide offsites per year, plus team trips - Fully remote within approved European time-zone countries; visa support currently available in Germany only
