Role overview
Senior Software Engineer responsible for building and improving financial products used by small businesses in the US and UK. The role covers the full software lifecycle, from understanding customer problems and shaping technical solutions through delivery, production monitoring, and ongoing improvement. You will work in a cross-functional environment with Product, QA, and engineering colleagues, contributing to both implementation and technical direction.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust, scalable services and applications using .NET. - Own solutions throughout the software development lifecycle, including production support and continuous improvement. - Contribute to architecture decisions and help establish effective technical approaches. - Partner closely with Product and QA to bring engineering insight into planning and delivery. - Build comprehensive unit and integration tests and maintain a high standard of code quality. - Explain technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, while mentoring other engineers.
Requirements
- At least five years of practical experience with C#, .NET, and SQL Server. - Some front-end development experience, ideally involving React and TypeScript. - Strong knowledge of unit and integration testing practices. - Broad engineering understanding, including experience reasoning about complex or distributed systems beyond a single technology stack. - Demonstrated ownership, sound judgement, and comfort working through ambiguity. - Clear communication skills and experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with .NET Core, MongoDB, Azure, GCP, Flutter, or Dart. - A proactive approach to improving team practices and supporting the growth of other engineers.
