Job details
About this role
Role overview Help protect a widely used online scheduling service while preserving a smooth experience for legitimate users. You’ll build and operate full stack systems that detect abuse across account creation, booking, and messaging, improve the responsible delivery of email and SMS, and give operations teams the tools to investigate decisions. The work involves responding to evolving attacks and balancing effective safeguards against the cost of blocking real customers.
Responsibilities - Build and improve detection for spam, phishing, bots, and fraudulent messaging across sign-up, booking, and notification flows. - Improve email and SMS reliability, deliverability, and compliance. - Evaluate new detection against real traffic and weigh false positives against missed abuse before taking account-level action. - Respond to active abuse during the on-call rotation, then turn urgent mitigations into durable fixes. - Create review tools that help operations staff investigate accounts and understand system decisions. - Work with product, operations, data, and engineering teams to set requirements, measure results, and add safeguards to their flows.
Requirements - At least 3 years of professional software development experience, including building and operating production systems at a technology or SaaS company. - Strong backend experience with services, APIs, and data intensive workflows in a service oriented architecture. - Experience with Rails, Node/TypeScript, Go, or a comparable framework or language, and readiness to work across technologies. - Comfort with relational databases and SQL, including using data to assess whether changes work. - Analytical judgment about how systems can be abused and how to protect users without creating unnecessary friction. - Care for maintainable code, thoughtful testing, incremental delivery, and clear communication with technical and nontechnical partners. - Ability to participate in on-call coverage and lawful authorization to work in the United States; immigration sponsorship is unavailable for this role.
Nice to have - Background in trust and safety, fraud, spam, abuse prevention, messaging delivery or compliance, bot protection, rate limiting, or verification services. - Experience with rules engines, risk scoring, production machine learning decisions, or LLM-based content moderation. - Familiarity with GCP, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, or Redis.
Benefits and work setup The role may involve occasional travel for company events, team collaboration, or offsites. Full-time employees are eligible for equity awards and competitive benefits. Published annual base salary ranges vary by location tier: $156,400–$189,520, $172,040–$208,472, or $187,680–$227,424 USD.
