About this role
Role overview This is a fully remote accounting role on the finance team of a cloud-based learning platform serving certification, credentialing, test prep, and continuing-education providers. Reporting to the Controller, the position maintains accurate financial records, supports budgeting and forecasting, and helps drive audit and process-improvement work.
Responsibilities - Run core accounting operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing. - Analyse and review expenditures, confirm correct departmental allocation, and report back to budget owners. - Verify that transactions are recorded in line with GAAP and internal accounting policies. - Review billing transactions to validate revenue recognition treatment. - Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly journal entries and accruals, and assist in preparing financial statements and budget variance analyses. - Contribute to budget preparation, year-end tax and audit schedules, and ongoing refinement of accounting processes.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred. - 3-5 years at staff level or 5-8 years at senior level in accounting or auditing, ideally with public accounting experience. - Thorough working knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition. - Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and hands-on experience with accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks. - Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving setting.
Nice to have - Background combining public accounting with corporate or SaaS environment exposure.
