Role overview A remote accounting position supports the financial backbone of a growing cloud-based learning platform organization. Reporting to the Controller, the role blends day-to-day bookkeeping with analysis, budgeting support, and process improvement. It suits someone who enjoys combining accurate transactional work with broader contributions to financial reporting and audit readiness.

Responsibilities - Own the core accounting cycle, including account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing. - Review expenditures to confirm correct departmental coding and surface spend insights back to budget owners. - Validate that transactions and revenue recognition align with GAAP and internal policies. - Maintain the general ledger and post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals. - Help build financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and run budget-to-actual variance analysis. - Prepare year-end schedules supporting the annual tax filing process and suggest ways to streamline accounting workflows.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred. - 3-5 years of accounting or auditing experience (Staff level) or 5-8 years (Senior level); public accounting background welcomed. - Solid working knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and revenue recognition. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills. - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working independently in a fast-paced setting. - Highly organized, deadline-driven, and accountable for seeing tasks through to completion.

Nice to have - Hands-on experience with accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks. - Public accounting or audit exposure.
