Senior Staff Software Engineer

Role overview A senior individual-contributor position focused on designing and delivering internal platforms that empower enterprise infrastructure and operations teams. The role centers on full-stack engineering across backend services, data pipelines, and user-facing applications, owning systems end-to-end from architecture through production operations. The successful candidate will operate as a technical authority in ambiguous problem spaces, shaping engineering standards and influencing long-term platform direction.

Responsibilities - Architect and own full-stack platforms that surface infrastructure and operational data at scale - Design backend services and APIs for data collection, enrichment, and querying - Build web interfaces with advanced search, filtering, and usability tailored to technical users - Implement ETL and data processing pipelines for structured and semi-structured sources - Ensure applications are containerized and production-ready using Docker and Kubernetes-based deployment - Act as technical authority on system design, performance, reliability, and maintainability - Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, security, and product stakeholders to align on strategy - Uphold engineering best practices for testing, code quality, documentation, and operational readiness - Review designs and code across the team to raise the technical bar and reduce technical debt

Requirements - Demonstrated experience at Staff or Senior level on complex, production-grade systems - Proven ability to operate independently in ambiguous problem spaces and drive solutions to completion - Strong backend engineering background, including API design and data-intensive services - Hands-on experience building data-driven applications involving ingestion, transformation, and analysis - Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as C#, Python, Go, or Java - Solid SQL skills and experience with relational databases - Practical experience with Docker and containerized application delivery - Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and cloud-native application design - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development workflows - Strong technical judgment, communication skills, and capacity to influence without authority - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience - Typically 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of large or critical systems

Nice to have - Experience designing and operating systems on Kubernetes - Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases - Background with ETL pipelines, analytics platforms, or operational data tooling - Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS - Experience building internal platforms or tools for infrastructure, SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering teams - Understanding of observability, cost optimization, reliability engineering, or infrastructure automation

Benefits and work setup - Listed compensation range of 65,000–75,000 EUR annual gross for candidates based in Bulgaria, or 24,000,000–26,000,000 HUF annual gross for candidates based in Hungary
