Cloud Operations Engineer

Role overview A remote-first fintech is hiring a Cloud Operations Engineer to support its Google Cloud Platform infrastructure that powers accelerated payroll and accessible financial services for working Americans. The role sits inside the Cloud Ops team and focuses on keeping infrastructure scalable, secure, and highly available while reducing manual toil through automation. It is a hands-on engineering position with on-call expectations and exposure to cross-departmental workflow projects.

Responsibilities - Implement and maintain GCP infrastructure, working from senior-engineer direction and contributing to platform reliability. - Build automation that reduces operational toil and helps systems recover quickly from production incidents. - Troubleshoot issues across cloud infrastructure and observability tooling, including monitoring, logging, and tracing. - Support compliance with relevant security and regulatory standards for the cloud environment. - Participate in incident response, alerting, sprint work, metrics collection, and documentation. - Contribute to workflow automation efforts (scheduled jobs, orchestration tools, Airflow) that bridge infrastructure and business processes.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. - Three or more years of professional cloud infrastructure engineering experience, ideally on GCP. - Working proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, Bash, Java, or Go. - Hands-on experience with containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes. - Familiarity with observability practices and some exposure to network or application security. - Comfort using AI-assisted tools to accelerate work and willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Nice to have - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git. - Experience collaborating with data engineering teams. - Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, or Chef. - Prior on-call experience in a 24/7 production environment.
